Principal Web Business Analyst

Blacksburg, VA | Product Management

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Web Business Analyst to join the Product Management team in Blacksburg, Virginia. As the Principal Web Business Analyst, you will provide thought leadership in processes, measurement and analysis for web transactions. You will define and deliver the monthly, weekly, and daily web analytics reports for products.  You will also be responsible for evaluating and reporting performance of multiple sites, generate reports, maintain analytical toolset, and monitor key performance indicators. You will also identify new ideas and opportunities for leveraging analytics.



  • Work with the Product Management team to align the web and user traffic analytics approach with’s corporate strategy.

  • Design, implement and run web and user traffic analysis, develop recommendations for improvements, and propose actionable next steps 

  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and dashboards to assist Product Management analysis to develop product effectiveness and performance 

  • Perform response and investment analysis for all web campaigns and experiments

  • Work with key stakeholders to understand the analytics objectives to develop an appropriate tagging strategy for web analytics tools 

  • Work with Product team to ensure accurate tracking functions are provided. 

  • Identify and analyze user behavior trends to drive product improvement suggestions 

  • Design and develop user analysis reports including User Segmentation, Retention Analysis, Feature usage, Attrition rates, Lifetime Value Analysis and Reactivation 

  • Participate in and support Product Managers in delivering results and presentations

  • Stay current on trends and best practices in web analysis tools and techniques

  • Assist in documentation of processes, company standards and best practices

  • Prepare business and functional process documents.

  • Work independently with minimal guidance on tasks.



  • Preferred: significant direct experience as a Web Business Analyst developing enterprise processes with focus on strategic reporting and organizational health monitoring.

  • Extensive experience of analytics tools including Omniture Site Catalyst,  Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager and implementation/tagging of web analytics software.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly expanding industry and marketplace.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing initiatives.

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technology discipline with 7+ years experience working in a Business Analyst role.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to bring a hypothesis-led problem solving approach to complex issues.

  • Experience with user stories and agile product processes.

  • Familiarity with web development or consumer software platforms.
